Sample Letter: Don't Stop Believin'

About a year ago, Jason and I sent out a mass email to churches across the U.S. asking for their help in our adoption process. We not only asked for their prayers, but also if they knew anyone seeking adoptive parents for their baby.

Our hopes were to adopt a baby but God had other plans for us to be foster parents. We now feel like we are ready to try again. This time we are going to send the letter to lawyers, counselors, pregnancy resource centers, and again pastors and their churches.

On April 1st, we will begin our "A Baby Sent From the Stars Giveaway" to try and raise money to either adopt from Journeys of the Heart Adoption Agency or to adopt privately through a lawyer. Please let everyone you know, know about this upcoming giveaway.

This is the letter we will be sending out:

To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Jason Rice. My wife Naomi and I are writing to ask for your prayers, and if possible your help in a unique situation.

We both grew up and met each other in church. Both of us became Christians at a young age, and we began dating when we were teenagers. We are now both 23, and will have been married 3 years this August. I am an EKG technician at our local hospital and Naomi is a stay-at-home mom for our two foster children. She is also taking her last class for her associate’s degree in early childhood education.

When Naomi was 17, we learned that due to a very rare condition she was born with, she would never have children. Short of a creative and extraordinary miracle, we know this will be physically impossible. We are praying daily for a miracle, and we will never stop believing God to bring that to pass. We are asking you to remember us in prayer.

As well as prayer, we are asking you to please remember us as prospective adoptive parents. As you know, adoption can be a lengthy and expensive process. We have already established a private fund for this, and we are sending this letter out to pastors, churches, pregnancy care centers, adoption lawyers, and anyone else we can think of to make our situation known.

Our request is simple. If you know of any woman, in your church, or through family and friends, who is in need of a Christian couple to adopt her baby-please remember us. We are praying that we can be the answer to someone’s prayers through adoption. Through this letter, we are hoping to connect with a pregnant mother in need.

We know that God knew Naomi’s condition from the moment she was conceived. We believe God has a very special plan for us, and we are praying daily that He will guide us in that plan.
