Norah's DIY Nursery Nook

I posted a few pictures on Instagram of Norah's nursery and had a few requests to do a little before and after on my blog! This has been really fun for me seeing all the progress and especially the shocking before and after pictures! I am really excited with how it has turned out. I won't lie, my biggest inspirations were Pinterest and my mom. Yes, that's right, my mom. She has the BEST ideas and seriously should be an interior decorator!

So as most of you know, we had 1 day notice to prepare for Norah's arrival. We knew a few things that we wanted for her nursery: 1) We wanted her to share a room with us because a) I wanted her as near as possible to us and b) I was not going to climb those steep, narrow stairs every time she needed to eat in the middle of the night. We had a little extra space in our upstairs lil loft so she moved in! Eventually her and K will share a room, but for now she has a little nursery nook with us. 2) I was inspired by a classy, vintage theme. 3) We had limited space.

Below is the before and it was pretty scary! I had borrowed a white little dresser from my mom and was going to paint it, but it ended up not being enough storage so we gave it back. I had a vintage mirror, but it was the wrong color, I had a random side table (that I didn't end up using), a few odds and ends and then of course my AWESOME garage sale find, $3 vintage chair. Everything looked blaze, except the sweet little baby of course!

And behold, THE AFTER! Brighter, happier, cozy, vintage and classy, all in one!

Here are a few things that really helped me while decorating Norah's space.
1) Art: In her collage on the wall there are several very meaningful things! The pearl letter "N" my best friend made for Norah (Thank you Jaime! I love it!) My friend Shayna sent her a placard with a sweet quote. Jason's Aunt Lori sent a very sweet frame with a darling quote on it and of course I have one of my favorite pictures of when I first held her hung in the collage. Auntie Monique gave me the sweet clock and I thought it looked very vintage and went perfect with the decor.

This was my moms idea. The light pink panel is hung with a simple gold tension rod (about 8 bucks at bi-mart) and is pulled back with a fancy hook that my mom gave me. I like that the panel can easily be switched out later on for a different look.

Again, my mom, here. She bought these baskets plain and then embellished them and gave them to me for my baby shower!

I had been wanting a glitter "N" for Norah's room for weeks, but I never could find her initial. So I found a tutorial on Pinterest and glittered an simple white "N" that I bought from Michaels Craft Store. I brushed on modge podge, sprinkled it with mixed gold and pink glitter and sprayed it with hair spray to keep the glitter from falling off so easily! Easy peasy!

If you have an instagram account and like me take more pictures on your phone than your camera, than this idea is good for you! Print some photos on Printstagram and hang them with little clothespins on twine. Switch out the instagram pics whenever you want!

I kind of cheated with these puff balls, you can make them by hand (which i have done before) but it takes forever and it hurts my hand to cut them. So I bought the pre-made ones, where all you have to do is fluff them out, from Jo-Ann's. I strung them into a garland with thread and hung them as a backdrop and to add some pops of color above my chair.

My sister gave this to me a week after Norah was born and I love it! It's an 12x18 print from Costco and they are reasonably priced! I framed it with a simple black frame for now, but i am looking for a more ornate frame I can spray paint light pink. I love this picture! Also, isn't the clip, bow and headband holder just darling! A dear friend and her other friend made this for her! So adorable!

I got this decorative pillow and chevron rug at Target. It caught my eye and I decided then and there I wanted to add a gold/yellow color to the nursery. It matched my chair! Love them!

Like I mentioned in the beginning of this post, this was a $5 mirror I got at a garage sale, but it was originally blue. I spray painted it gold and it fit perfectly in with the decor. I like how ornate it looks too!

I saw this canvas print at TJ Maxx and decided to get it. It just seemed to fit in with Norah and K and our family.

I still am really hoping to paint Norah's desk a champagne pink and I am also working on a mobile to go over her changing table. Eventually (when she outgrows her moses bakset), she will sleep in a small crib under the window, but for now this is it and I love it! Hope this post inspires you to do something creative!
