Overwhelmed with love.
I was overwhelmed with emotion as I watched my friends and family drive into the parking lot of our church to help run our Holiday Adoption Bazaar today. My best friend drove almost two hours just to do free kid hair cuts. And then there is my other dear friend who drove 2 hours round trip to sit with me and keep my company at another bazaar I went to last night (that is another story in itself). And then there is my mother and my sister and my dad who put COUNTLESS hours into this bazaar. My sister advertising and planning, my mother selling half of her house (I kid you not!) and my dad creating and making things from scratch like wreath stands and signs etc. And then my mother-in-law who slaved in the kitchen making homemade cinnamon rolls to sell. And the list could go on and on and on because there were people from McMinnville (my home town) who came for 6 hours to help make homemade gorgeous wreaths and my mothers dear friend who spent an entire day making baked goods to sell. My sister-in-law who donated her amazing time and skills for family christmas photos. My other sweet friend cut hair and made (along with her mother) adorable hats, scarves, and kid bows to sell.
So I am sure you are all wondering, what it a success?? Well, yes, in fact it was. We made over $1000 total!! There are still some last minute purchases being calculated in so it may be a few hundred more that that, but we were amazed! When my sister announced the grand total, we all cheered! And my heart and emotions soared and at the same time I got all choked up thinking about how much people care about Jason and I. It is overwhelming. I really want to thank everyone, and I do, but I feel like no mater how many times I tell them thank you, it does not feel like enough. It feels so meaningless! But I am just grateful for all the support we have. I cannot imagine people who are trying to adopt completely on their own... it would be so difficult not only financially but emotionally.
In other news, we got our first official call (now that we are in the waiting pool) for our book to be shown to a birth mom! Our book will be shown this Tuesday along with other families books, but still... it's a start!
Please continue praying for our family and baby K. We so appreciate it!
