Enjoying: downtown
I really love our city. It has taken me some time to fall in love with it. When I first moved here after marrying Jason, I really wasn't all that thrilled with it. I wished I was closer to Portland where there was more shopping and more things to do. But having a toddler, you begin to discover little things all around you that make the days fun. Downtown is one of our favorite things to do.
It is about a 20 minute bike ride from our house, it has exciting things like The Toy Factory, indoor park, the library, story time, special events in Central Park, Great Harvest Bread Co., Starbucks (my husbands favorite), the Willamette River, Farmers Market, and one of my summer favorites: the fountains.
The fountains just recently turned on again, since summer is coming and definitely a community favorite. People from everywhere come to sit on the grass, or rock or bench to watch the toddlers, babies, and even school age kids play. It's a great place to meet up with friends for play dates too.
Last Thursday, when we found out that
we were on the road to adopt Baby K, we headed downtown and celebrated
at Great Harvest with some Apple Crunch Rolls (Baby K says this
perfectly) and a walk to the fountains.
I was so excited that day, I asked the baker at Great Harvest to snap our photo while I enthusiastically told her about our great news.
We met my sister, Cassie and all their kids down at the fountains and chatted until the evening.
It was so relaxing and fun.
