San Francisco 2015 (Part 1)
We left early yesterday morning for a Spring Break trip to San Fran! Jason and I had traveled there by plane for our honeymoon (almost 7 years ago!), but this time we came back with our two kids! I was slightly nervous to be on the road for almost 12 hours with 2 toddlers, but it ended up going really well! Norah napped a bit and ate (a lot) of snacks and got (a lot) of white chocolate covered pretzels smeared all over her and her carseat. Koa watched (too many to keep track of) Bob the Builder DVDs and napped a bit as well. We stopped a few times to let the kids run at rest stops and even a random church parking lot! And we stopped at the famous In N' Out Burger.
The drive was absolutely GORGEOUS! Jason and I were in awe of the almost not real looking rolling green hills! Also seeing Mt. Shasta was lovely. The Siskiyou mountain range was breathtaking and a little scary with drop off cliffs on either side of you! Also, there would be random cows along these giant rolling green hills and it was such an amazing view...
Speaking of amazing views. We had no idea that we would be crossing the Golden Gate Bridge to enter the city. Imagine my excitement (about that of a 10 year old) when i scrolled forward on Google Maps and saw our route included a trip across the GGB! Although we had been to San Fran multiple times before, we had never gone across!
It was an amazing experience! I guess i must have been making a huge deal about it because afterwards Koa said, "That was INCREDIBLE!!"
We found our hotel and checked in around 6pm and then walked to a local Taco shop called TACKO. The kids were borderline losing it, so in hind sight we probably should've just gotten take out, but it was a fun experience and I can't wait for all that today holds! I feel so grateful to be on this vacation. Usually the drive isn't that exciting for me, but driving all day long yesterday, just being able to spend time with my family was a blast.
Until our next adventure... -Naomi
