Sunny with a chance of a shower
Our weekend was busy! Friday we headed North to visit my hometown and let my mom babysit Baby K while we went to our adoption orientation for Catholic Charities up in Portland. When we officially joined the agency waiting pool last November 1st, we had one extra requirement and that was to attend their orientation on February 1st and 2nd. It felt like such a long time away when we first agreed, but the time has flown and February is here already! We stopped to let Jason study for school at a coffee shop and let K play at a super cool park. We had no idea that we would be there for over 2 hours because the weather was so unexpectedly BEAUTIFUL!
I met a long time friend (and former neighbor while we were in middle school) at the park. It was great to catch up. She is such a doll and I am still so thankful when you can meet someone after years and just start right back up where you left off. That is a sign of a good friend. We talked for over an hour while K played and my friends dog walked around.
While I was at the park, I actually got a call from our agency to see if they could show our book that night to a birth mom. We said yes, and are waiting to hear back. For those of you who may not be familiar with this process, our agency asks to show our book to birth moms. They give us all the information they have on the bio mom, dad and child. Jason and I talk about it and then we tell the agency either yes or no if we want our book shown. Usually the agency shows the birth mom anywhere from 3-10 books. The birth mom decides which family(ies) she would like to meet with and then if she likes us we have a "match meeting." At the match meeting we get to know each other and if decide if we want to continue to meet. If we do we are considered a "match" and then we wait for the baby and continue to form a relationship with the mom and possibly her family.
So that's the waiting game we play. It can be hard not getting your hopes up, but I know our baby will come at the right time.... ANYWAYS.... majorly sidetracked there, but thought that info might be helpful.
We left Baby K with my parents and attended our orientation. While we knew so much of this information already, there was much more knowledge that we were able to take in and that I believe will help us so much! 10 hours of classes can do that!
After our class Saturday, we drove straight back home so I could make it in time for my sister's baby shower. She is due with a baby boy at the end of the month! Baby number 5 will be making his appearance on February 25th and as of now is nameless... so any name ideas, last chance to chip in!
We played games and ate yummy food and opened presents galore. Baby Barton is gonna be one adorably dressed baby. Congrats sister and can't wait to meet the little man.

Well, I end this post with 2 adorable pics of my little man who isn't so little anymore. He can talk my ear off, give me an attitude, charm ANYONE'S socks off and melt you into a puddle with those dreamy eyes.
He is definitely my valentine this month (along with the man who originally stole my heart of course). I am so glad that he is still here.
Love you little man. xoxoxo
Here's to the start of another week! Hopefully we will find out some good news!
